REMAFISK ble gjennomført i perioden april 2017 til august 2018. Gjennom dialog med fiskere har prosjektet samlet ny kunnskap om fiskernes holdninger til marint avfall.
Marine litter threatens marine life, and ultimately the provision of clean and healthy seafood. Prevention is the most cost-effective approach to this global challenge. In the Barents Sea region fisheries contribute a high portion of the litter. RE-D-USE will work with fishers to identify causes and solutions, and develop an educational program to reduce waste and gear loss. We will also investigate the potential for circular economy ventures based on marine waste as a resource. The project is coordinated by Nordland Research Institute and has 13 partners from research, the fishery sector and circular economy businesses in Norway, Russia and Canada.
