The report, using the UN Habitat’s Waste Wise Cities Tool methodology, is an important milestone for the CLOCC programme in Chengalpattu. It provides significant insights into the waste management and waste leakage into the environment and oceans. It also lays the foundation for the development of a sustainable waste management system for Chengalpattu, which can be replicated to other parts of India and the world.

This webinar will present the main findings of the baseline report, and provide insights into the CLOCC programme, and its progress and goals in India. The webinar will be hosted by Avfall Norge (Norwegian Waste Management and Recycling Association), the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and Ambire Global.

Prosjektleder for CLOCC, bærekraft og Miljøfyrtårn, Avfall Norge

Oda jobber som rådgiver for CLOCC (Clean Oceans through Clean Communities) som er Avfall Norges internasjonale prosjekt. CLOCC jobber for å redusere marin plastforsøpling ved å forbedre avfallshåndteringen i land der mye avfall havner på avveie. Hun er også prosjektleder for Avfall Norges prosjekt innen bærekraft, og MIljøfyrtårnansvarlig. Oda har bakgrunn fra miljø/bærekraft og kommunikasjon.

Kartik Kapoor

Waste Management Consultant, GIZ India

Kartik has a master's in sustainable resources management from TU Munich, specialising in waste management. He has experience working on waste-related projects in Cameroon, Germany, India, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. He has worked with Waste Wise Cities program at United Nations and the Waste to Energy research network in Germany. Currently, he works as a consultant, engaging with the Circular and Low Carbon Cities project of the International solid waste association (ISWA), where his focus is on the indicators for scoring the circularity of the city. He is also affiliated as an expert with GIZ India, supporting the implementation of the EPR policy for plastic packaging in India.
